PETER Blunden, husband of Jacqueline Blunden, died of cancer on August 17, aged 85.

Mr Blunden, from Warrington, was born in London.

At the age of 14 he was first employed in a London shoe factory.

After National Service he joined the RAF for five years and had served in Egypt.

After his discharge he became a postman and stayed with the Royal Mail for 41 years until retirement.

Mr Blunden had played table tennis for the Post Office team.

He enjoyed crosswords, jigsaws and visiting National Trust properties.

He leaves his wife, four sons, three daughters, 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

A service was held on September 2 at Walton Lea, followed by cremation.

The Rev Ray Whitticombe officiated.
