JAMES Savage, husband of Hilda Savage, died of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis pneumonia on August 6, aged 87.
Mr Savage, lived in the Howley area all his life.
He was employed for 27 years as a painter and decorator with Warrington Borough Council, and had also worked for Marrs and Hewitt, Thomasons of Lymm and Rylands Wire Company.
He later worked at children’s care homes, including Houghton Hall and Padgate House.
Mr Savage enjoyed darts, snooker, fishing, photography, going to his caravan in Welshpool and watching TV sport and wildlife.
He was a member of various bowls clubs including Victoria Park Pensioners, and had been on the Warrington Anglers netting team.
Mr Savage leaves his wife and several nieces and nephews.
A service was held on August 19 at St Elphin’s Parish Church, followed by cremation at Walton Lea and interment at a later date at Warrington cemetery.
The Rev Geoff Dunn officiated.
Arrangements were made by Co-operative Funeralcare.
