SYDNEY Aldred, husband of the late Ella Aldred, died on January 14, aged 94.

Mr Aldred, from Padgate, lived in the Warrington area all his life.

He was first employed at PLP motors as a mechanic then after the Second World War he returned to PL and later Bishops at Howley Wharf.

He then became a selfemployed haulage contractor. During the Second World War Mr Aldred served with the Fleet Air Arm and visited many countries including Bermuda, St Lucia and Montserrat.

Mr Aldred enjoyed fishing, bowls and holidays throughout the UK.

He leaves three sons, a daughter, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a sister.

A service was held on January 26 at Walton Lea, followed by cremation. His ashes were later interred at Fox Covert.

The Rev Colin Gordon-Farleigh officiated.
