Ninety-six Liverpool fans died in Sheffield during the FA Cup semi-final on April 15 1989
The public disclosure of the secret Hillsborough files will take place at Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral, the city's bishop has said.
The Hillsborough Independent Panel has analysed more than 400,000 pages of documents from 80 organisations concerning the disaster and will make public its findings in September.
The Rt Rev James Jones, Bishop of Liverpool, said: "I can confirm that the disclosure on September 12 will take place at the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral."
It is hoped the panel's findings will shed new light as to exactly what caused the tragedy.
Ninety-six Liverpool fans were crushed to death on overcrowded terraces in Sheffield during the FA Cup semi-final on April 15 1989.
A report into the disaster by Lord Justice Taylor, published in 1990, found that the main reason for the disaster was a failure of "police control".
Last month the panel, led by the Bishop of Liverpool, said the documents will be disclosed to the families first.
The panel, set up in 2009, has emphasised that one of its central objectives has been consultation with the bereaved families.
