A WOMAN was held at gunpoint at a petrol station in Glazebury on Friday.
A man drove into the Total Garage on Warrington Road in a silver saloon car around 2am.
He approached the kiosk and asked for a pack of cigarettes.
He paid a female member of staff and she gave him the cigarettes, however, for reasons unknown he then pointed what appeared to be a black pistol at the woman.
Police say the man held the gun in a 'discreet manner' at waist height.
He did not make any threats or demands but the woman became scared and ran to the back room of the station.
The man then got back into his car and drove off towards the East Lancs Road, in the direction of Leigh.
The gunman is described as white, approximately 50-years-old and 5ft 6ins tall.
He is stockily built and has a weathered face with a ruddy complexion. He was wearing a black woollen hat and a black 3/4 length jacket.
No witnesses were present during the incident.
