POLICE have released pictures of a gang who smashed the window of a bus after refusing to pay their fare.

Officers want to identify the culprit who swung a sock containing a heavy object at the window, causing it to splinter.

The four men got on the bus at Mee Brow around 8pm on Saturday, April 12.

The bus was travelling from Culcheth to Warrington and they asked to be dropped off at the next pub.

Two of the men paid for their tickets but the other two took their tickets but refused to pay.

They were asked to leave and at this point one of them lashed out at the bus window with the makeshift weapon.

The attack caused £250 worth of damage and left the bus undriveable - leaving passengers stranded until the next bus arrived.

No one was hurt in the incident.

The man thought to have carried out the attack was white and in his early 20s. He was wearing a black top and black trousers. He has short dark hair.

The second man was also white and in his early 20s. He was wearing a white long sleeve top and also had short dark hair.

If anyone recognises the men in the images they should contact PC Chris Barnes at Risley Neighbourhood Policing Unit on 0845 458 0000.

Alternatively information can be given anonymously on 0800 555 111.
