FORMER Liberal Democrat leader Lord Ashdown met with shoppers in town on Tuesday as he helped the party’s candidates last minute canvassing.
He joined Jo Crotty and Dave Eccles on a walk about the town centre on Tuesday afternoon to speak to members of the public and back the candidates in today’s election.
Talking about the Warrington South battle Lord Ashdown said: “I suppose one would say Warrington South wasn’t on our target list but the tremendous hard work Jo has done has made it one of our winnable target seats.
“When you vote on Thursday you’re going to vote on the single representative you have in Westminster. I say do not listen to promises but record. Jo has a record here as a candidate in the constituency as someone you can take your problems to but also a strong voice at Westminster.
“It’s now a straight fight between us and Labour, those who want to vote Tory will be wasting their vote.”
