PROMINENT Labour minister David Lammy was in town to support Warrington South candidate Nick Bent.
The minister for innovation, universities and skills paid a visit to Sir Thomas Boteler CE High School, in Latchford, to meet staff and pupils and talk about plans that would see the school undergo major renovation under the Building Schools for the Future programme.
It followed on from a visit by Ed Balls earlier in the campaign to Penketh High School, which is also set to be transformed by the plan.
But Labour has warned both plans could be in jeopardy if Labour are not re-elected because they have not been signed off formally and would not guarantee them going ahead if Labour was not in power.
Mr Bent said: “Local parents and grandparents have a big choice to make about the future of Sir Thomas Boteler and Penketh High.
“If Labour are re-elected, then both these schools will get massive capital investment and they will be transformed into superb 21st century schools. If Cameron and Osborne win power, these investment plans would sadly be scrapped.”
