A SALON in Padgate is set to offer haircuts in return for donations to a cancer charity.

The recently-opened LC Styling Lounge on Marsh House Lane will hold a charity afternoon from 2pm on Saturday, August 4.

Patrons will be encouraged to give donations to Cancer Research UK on the day in return for hairstyling and nail painting.

Cakes and drinks will be sold in aid of the charity, with prizes also up for grabs in a raffle.

Salon owner Olivia Higginson, 23, said: “We’re going to open up the salon and doing hairstyling and nails in return for a donation to charity.

“We will have a few raffle prizes, a few cakes and a few drinks.

“It’ll be a nice relaxed afternoon and people can donate whatever they want to Cancer Research UK.”

The charity is one that is dear to Olivia, from Callands, due to close family members’ battles with cancer.

She added: “It’s a charity that’s quite close to our family’s hearts and one that we always give to.

“My mum has had cancer before and my nan is going through it at the moment.

“It’s something that everyone can relate to.

“I’ve always believed in giving back - I’ve always tried to do a lot for charity, and so has my nan.

“I thought it would be a nice afternoon and hopefully it will be something a bit different.

“Hopefully a lot of people will support it, and every little helps.”
