THE new man at the helm of construction at a Warrington building firm believes the market in the north west is continuing to flourish.

Martin Sharkey has been named head of construction at Fearnhead-based Galliford Try Partnerships North West, following a successful year as senior build manager with the firm.

He brings more than 25 years’ experience in the housing sector to the position, which will see him join the senior management team, overseeing key decision making for construction in the region.

He said: “I’m delighted to be appointed head of construction with the north west division, a team which I’ve seen grow and expand alongside my own development.

“The north west construction market continues to flourish, and I’m looking forward to getting stuck into assisting the company in new ventures and building on its success.”

The 43-year-old, from Wigan, has worked his way up through various companies working in roles including site manager.

Brendan Blythe, regional managing director at Galliford Try Partnerships North West, said: “During his time with the north west team, Martin has demonstrated his commitment to high levels of safety, quality, cost control, presentation and enthusiasm in his role of senior build manager.

“It is always a pleasure to promote hardworking staff internally and we are delighted to welcome him to the senior management team.”

The north west division of Galliford Try’s regeneration arm, set up in 2015, is currently delivering a total of 12 sites across the north west and a spokesman said Martin’s appointment will help ensure all developments match its high standards and that its continued growth can be sustained.
