A NATIONAL law firm has celebrated opening a new office in the town by donating £1,000 to YMCA Warrington.

The company, which has offices across the country, invited staff and volunteers from the charity to be 'guests of honour' as its latest site in the Gateway, on Sankey Street, was officially opened.

It will house Stephensons' housing and crime teams.

Andrew Leakey, a partner at the firm, said Stephensons decided to support the Winmarleigh Street charity after seeing a recent appeal for funds in the Warrington Guardian.

"YMCA Warrington provides an invaluable service in helping homeless and vulnerable people in the community," he added.

"We are delighted to be able to support them and hope this donation will go some way to securing their future in the town and making sure their vital work continues."

YMCA centre manager Susan Blyth praised the law firm following the donation.

She said: "We would like to thank Stephensons for their kind support and for inviting us to open their new premises.

"We are reliant on the generosity of people and businesses in Warrington to maintain and improve our services and donations such as this are a big part of that."
