MORE than 50 leading technology innovators have joined a new networking platform at The Base.

BaseConnect, which operates from the Dallam Lane site, is aiming to bring figures from 'ambitious, high-growth' companies together to share ideas, experiences and advice.

Following the flurry of firms joining, the team behind the initiative are confident it will grow to have 200 members by the end of the year.

"Our tenants told us that they wanted a lively and informal networking platform for people involved in Warrington's burgeoning technology and SME sectors," said Sylvie Morton, business development manager of Langtree, which manages The Base on behalf of Warrington & Co.

"Warrington is thriving and its employers are ambitious for success.

"I'm not at all surprised by the enthusiasm for the idea."

The network is free to join for any business involved in the Warrington area and will be a platform.

It also allows members to check and register for events regularly and be informed of news related to the sector.

Steve Park, managing director of Warrington & Co, said the town's high performing economy can grow further – and that BaseConnect 'can play a key part' in the ambitious vision.

"We've got the highest employment rate in the country and are just behind Manchester for our level of new business creation but we can achieve more," he added.

"Facilitating growth through building networks and sharing best practice has been shown to work exceptionally well in places like London and Manchester and I know Warrington has the capability to match them."

Next Thursday, January 26, The Base will host a discussion on cybersecurity from an 'Industry 4.0' perspective.

It is being led by Jenny Williams – an expert from Titan, the north west regional organised crime unit.
