A DIGITAL marketing company in Thelwall is celebrating after doubling its turnover and profit in three years following a call to a business doctor.

Dreamscape has recorded a 210 per cent increase in turnover and a 250 per cent profit increase, while doubling its staff to cope with the added demand.

Bernard McCabe, who is founder of the creative marketing organisation, launched the full service agency in 2004 as a one-man operation.

Prior to the launch he was involved in contracts with top brands including Mercedes, Nissan and Peugeot.

However, starting the business proved to be a complex challenge for Mr McCabe.

"Clients were beating a path to our door," he said.

"But what soon became clear was that, while I was a skilled marketer, I wasn't, at that point, a skilled business person with a long-term plan.

"Before long, my short-comings as a businessman were outstripping my skills as a designer and marketer.

"Cash flow was a problem despite the level of demand for our services."

A client recommended Business Doctors, which led him to contacting Kevin Cook, who runs the Cheshire firm.

Mr Cook first visited Dreamscape for a half-day strategy session and then worked with the business over the following months to help implement an agreed business plan.

Mr McCabe added: "Within six months we saw a huge difference in our business.

"With Kevin’s help we started to set and achieve targets.

"The business built up a cash reserve and we saw profits rise.

"Within 18 months we had rebuilt the business and were growing again and quickly.

"But this time, we had a plan, a vision and goals to achieve and since then we have seen year on year growth, we are now a team of eight in larger offices with a bigger client base.

"I would urge any small and medium-sized enterprise looking to grow, and to actually enjoy being in business, to speak with Business Doctors.

"With the right guidance you can strike a balance by ensuring your business is working for you rather than you working for it."
