A LEADING property developer with a site in Westbrook has acquired the services of a Preston North End footballer to help judge its summer competition.

Miller Homes, which has its Barley Green base on Kingswood Road, announced Chris Humphrey has agreed to judge its community Summer of Sport competition.

The firm is giving sports clubs across the north west an opportunity to win £500 to help improve facilities.

To be in with a chance, entrants have to say how their sports club will benefit from the money and what it will be spent on, in 200 words or less.

During the judging process, Humphrey will be looking for examples of how the clubs will make the most out of the donation, details of how it will benefit members, as well as examples of what new equipment they wish to buy.

He said: "I'm really excited to have the opportunity to help a sport club out, as sport has always been a fundamental part of my life.

"I was thrilled to be asked by Miller Homes to help judge tits competition as I think it is important to encourage others to get involved and this is a great initiative to support smaller clubs and those playing at grassroots."

Samantha Johnson, associate sales director for Miller Homes in the north west, said: "We're really pleased Chris has agreed to be part of our Summer of Sport campaign and to help us promote sport within our local communities.

"So far this summer we have seen a number of promising entries, so Chris may find it a little tricky to pick a winner."
