TWO Warrington companies have made it into the league table ranking Britain’s businesses with the biggest sales.

The 14th annual Sunday Times HSBC Top Track 100 league table ranks Britain’s 100 private companies with the biggest sales.

Westbrook-based European Metal Recycling (EMR) is ranked 13th and Fircroft HR services, based in Birchwood, was 57th.

EMR has sales of £2.8bn and is using new technologies to recover more from scrap cars, recycling the plastics and using the remaining rubber and foam to generate more than 40MW a year, while diverting an additional 500,000 tonnes of waste from landfill.

Dan Howlett, Head of Corporate Banking in the UK at HSBC, said: “It’s encouraging to see dynamic private companies from across the UK recognised by the Top Track 100 league table. These businesses are passionate and dedicated, which is evident across the different sectors, and they play an important part in helping to strengthen the British economy.”
