Ready to blast off

A DETERMINED Stockton Heath resident’s space-themed app could be set to rocket off the ground following a submission to Apple.

Andy Jones has spent two years creating Blast Off Bob, a game based in the surroundings of space, but is now hoping for the go ahead from the global corporation.

“I never went to university or did any courses in app creating but I am excellent in art and design,” he said.

“I just decided to go for it one day.”

Business masters

WARRINGTON-based Better Bathrooms has been shortlisted for an award in the 2015 North West Business Masters Awards.

The shortlist includes leading entrepreneurs, innovators, exporters and philanthropists who have all made a difference to business in the north west over the past year.

The winners will be announced at a black-tie dinner at the Midland Hotel in Manchester on March 12.

Firm wins award

WARRINGTON-based H&M Distribution Limited has picked up an award for customer service excellence.

Based at Sankey Valley Industrial Estate, the company scooped the Platinum Club award in recognition of its performance, commitment to customer service and compliance in the network over the past 12 months.

Retail recognition

A WEDDING retailer has been named as best online retailer in The Wedding Industry Awards 2015.

Liberty in Love, based at St James Business Park on Wilderspool Causeway, has twice been named regional winner in The Wedding Industry Awards for the category of Best Bridal Accessories (2013 and 2014), SheerLuxe Online Retail Awards 2013 winner of Bridal Accessories, and was shortlisted in the You & Your Wedding Bridal Retail Awards 2014 for ‘Bridal Accessories Retailer’.

Food enterprise

THE Government has announced it is setting up a food enterprise zone in Cheshire to support food businesses.

The zone will be one of 11 nationwide aimed at helping food and farming companies grow.

Grants of up to £50,000 will be available to set up FEZs, based around Local Development Orders.
