WARRINGTON is a great place - and council leader Terry O’Neill says he is passionate about making it even better.

He told us that his job is to ensure Warrington becomes even better in the futre.

He said: “It will come as no surprise to anyone that I am passionate about Warrington and so proud of the town and all that it has to offer.

“What surprises me is that it has taken the national press so long to catch on and realise what a great place that we have here!

“It’s my job along with my council colleagues to make sure that we keep the profile of the town high and with that create and protect jobs and build and grow the town to ensure its prosperous future.

“Last year we approved a framework called Warrington Means Business which sets out our plans and objectives to achieve that growth.

“I am proud that six months on since the adoption of the document we have announced investment projects in Warrington totalling £472 million so far.

“Omega is now home to £217 million of that investment alone. In the town centre, Stadium Quarter will soon be starting on site with the construction of a business incubator and the University Technical College both of which will be open for business next autumn and, later this year we will see the start on site of the Bridge Street regeneration scheme.

“These two schemes, along with our plans for the Cabinet Works will revitalise our town centre.

“The University Technical College and the Studio School are two exciting projects that together will ensure that our young people are trained up in engineering and nuclear skills which will provide them with jobs in the future and support the growth of these sectors in the town.

“Many don’t realise that more people are employed in the nuclear sector in Warrington than anywhere else in the UK.

“Warrington is a great place. We are working to make it even better for everyone who lives works and visits the town!”
