'Face-licking' taxi driver arrested

A TAXI driver has been arrested after allegedly licking the face of a female passenger.

The incident took place at around 2.20am on Sunday.

The 21-year-old woman was walking home from work when the dark saloon taxi stopped and she was offered a lift.

At Carol Street the woman attempted to get out but the driver grabbed her and licked the right hand side of her face.

The victim managed to escape and inform police.

A 41-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and bailed.

PC Nicola Gerrard said: “This appears to be an unusual and isolated incident.

“However we would urge people – particularly lone females – to exercise caution when out and about alone at night.

“We would urge people to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police immediately.”

Anyone with information can call police on 101 quoting incident number 154 of October 14.
