Health search launches

A HEALTH search has been launched to find more than 1,000 people living in the town with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) but do not know they have it.

The serious lung disease makes it difficult for patients to breathe and statistics have found more people die from it each year than bowel, breast or prostate cancer.

Warrington CCG has been stepping up its search to find these missing patients to prevent the need for hospital treatment later in life.

Penketh GP Dr Dan Bunstone said: “If you’re increasingly short of breath, have a chronic cough, regularly coughing up phlegm, experiencing wheezing or chest tightness, then it is important you visit your GP, as these can all be symptoms.”

Screening sessions will be taking place across the town after a launch at the Halliwell Jones stadium.
