Motorcyclist had 'great sense of humour'

‘A CHEEKY smile and great sense of humour’ is the way 19-year-old motorcyclist Jack Bellis has been described after he was killed following a crash with a car.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the Padgate teen was rushed to Aintree Hospital with serious injuries on Sunday at 10.50pm.

Flowers have since been laid at the spot on Warrington Road, Runcorn, at the junction of Domino Court after news spread the experienced biker had died in hospital late Monday afternoon.

More than 300 people have joined the Facebook group RIP Jack Bellis leaving tributes to the former Birchwood Community High School pupil.

Head teacher Anne Bright said: “Jack was a lovely young man with a cheeky smile and great sense of humour.

“He was well liked by everyone, well respected, hard working, an enterprising pupil and a great friend.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends in particular sister Emma."

Jack’s sister Emma posted on Twitter: “Rest in peace the most amazing brother in the world Jack Joseph Bellis, miss you more than anything love you, see you in heaven, x”

Geoff Kelly, from Warrington Advanced Motorists, said he and the rest of the bikers at the group were ‘devastated’ by the news after Jack had been handed the associate rider of the year award in 2011.

He added: “Jack was an excellent and safe rider.

“I told Jack that I wouldn’t be happy with him until he had done a 100 per cent perfect ride; he did it eventually on his 13th run - the morning of his test.

“To take all that in and come out on top, at such a young age, was truly exceptional.”

The keen angler was also described by Frank Lythgoe, from Warrington Anglers Association, as a ‘bright, key member’ of the squad.

He added: “Jack will be greatly missed by all, especially by his peers and the younger anglers who looked up to him as a role model.”

Police have arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the incident who has been bailed pending further enquiries.
