SHOPPERS can get a free blood pressure check as well as supporting the Stroke Association next Saturday.

Doctors and nurses from Warrington Hospital’s stroke unit and charity staff will be in the Golden Square for the second year running carrying out health MOTs.

Visitors can also show their support for the charity and work fighting the killer disease by buying the ‘stroke solidarity string’ bracelet.

The new international awareness symbol for stroke is £2 and will help work with stroke survivors.

Jane Guy, from The Stroke Association, said: “People can learn more about their risk and make changes to reduce it.

“We want to urge everyone to take five minutes to know your blood pressure because it could save your life.”

The ‘stroke shop’ will be open from 12 to 3.30pm in the community square shop next to Mark and Spencer’s.

Shoppers and anyone with blood pressure or pulse concerns can drop in for a free check.
