POLICE and the RSPCA were called to help an injured swan in Grappenhall.

They were called at 8.10am today, Friday, to Knutsford Road after the animal, which has an injury to its leg, was seen causing traffic disruption.

Officers chased after the bird before returning it to the canal.

A spokesman said: "The RSPCA were notified of the incident and were due to attend the area and check on the swan.”

I was told that members of the public tried to move it off the road before cops turned up and were ticketed for parking at bus stop while they were being good subjects helping her majesties royal swan.
