Elderly couple speak out after home burgled
AN elderly couple have spoken out after their home in Penketh was burgled.
They returned to their home on Hall Nook on Friday to find there had been a break-in.
The husband, who does not wish to be named, said: “At first I thought we had left the light on in the back but then we realised we normally would not be able to see the light because the door was shut.
“Then I saw the windown had been forced and the cupboards and draws were open.
“We have never had any reason to feel uncomfortable before.
“My wife was not sure that the house was empty when we got back, she was worried that somebody was still upstairs.”
The thief stole electrical items from the address at sometime between 8pm on Friday and 12.20am on Saturday.
The couple are now warning other residents in the area.
He said: “We are both still uncomfortable about it and I hope we are not going to let it spoil our normal way of life.
“It’s like the lottery and somebody has to win.
“Unfortunately I won this one.
“People need to be aware that these people are around and they need to be vigilant.
“I do not want it ruining their lives.”
