Postal changes in Birchwood

CHANGES are being made to the way post is delivered to homes, shops and businesses in Birchwood.

New delivery methods and revised routes are being introduced on a phased basis Royal Mail has writted to every address in Birchwood explaining why the service is being modified.

A Royal Mail spokesman said: “Our postmen and women play a vital role in Birchwood. However, we need to modernise the way we operate.

“We are making changes to maintain our services and keep our prices as low as possible.

“Fewer letters are now posted every day and Royal Mail needs to organise its delivery routes to be as efficient as possible. We also deliver more larger items so we are investing in new equipment, which reduces the risk of injury to our staff from carrying heavier mail bags.”

I am also awaiting the letter, maybe it will explain why we now get out post any time between 9.00am and 4.00pm,, its a joke service now,, I do not blame the post men and women,, they are out in all weathers , once again managers have messed up what was once a good and cost effective service.

This is what happens when graduates with no experience of the postal service take charge, ignore those who have worked in the system for years and think they know better! Now your parcels go to your neighbours (as of last Monday) and your post can come any time of the day!!

In our area we don't seem to get a delivery every day - Fridays seem a favourite day to miss us out - perhaps Birchwood can expect this now.

Royal Mail may be telling porkies about writing everyone as that would cost too much. I won't be holding my breath whilst waiting for this letter!!!!!

Wriitted ? I have not received a letter either and note that there are days where no post arrives, then a large pile is deposited through my letter box, and sometimes its the post.

I have no issue with the postmen and women, they are always pleasant and professional but with cheap couriers now available i fear that the post office will shoot itself in the foot by training to remain competitive. You can pay a small amount more for a courier to come to your door and collect a parcel for delivery rather than stand in a queue in the post office for hours.
