IT has been a whirlwind summer for two former Penketh High School pupils who returned from Los Angeles after clocking up more than 15 million hits on YouTube.

Talented pair Michael Evans, aged 22, and Jason Brown, aged 21, produced the video for up and coming rapper Hopsin and his track Ill Mind of Hopsin part five which saw one million people a day watch it in the first week.

During a three-month internship in California, the double act also worked on a music video for American artist Chris Brown for track The Function and shot singer songwriter Andy Grammer’s video for Miss Me on the rooftops of downtown LA.

Jason, of Malpas Drive, said: “It’s been mindblowing.

“The internship didn’t work out the way we thought it would but we always had plans to do stuff outside that and build up contacts for our production company Wireside Productions.

“We want to establish ourselves and build up a show reel so eventually we can start working in film.”

The duo, who have grown up together going to the same nursery and Evelyn Street Primary School before heading to the University of Creative Arts in Surrey, next plan to start their own record label.

Michael, of Winchester Avenue, added: “We have always been really good mates and had the same interests.

“We had come across Hopsin at home, made some contacts and then the next thing we knew we were on set and making plans to shoot the video.

“We managed to get a lot under our belts so we’re just looking forward to building on that now.”

Michael’ proud mum Carolann, added she thinks the boys’ success is all down to the media team at Penketh High School.

She added: “If they had gone to a different school they wouldn’t have been doing this and had so many great opportunities.”
