Councillor speaks at Labour conference

SENIOR figures from the Warrington South Labour party have been playing a role in the party’s annual conference in Manchester.
On Monday Clr Maureen McLaughlin spoke on the conference stage and seconded a keynote motion on the economic hardship being caused by the Coalition Government.
The Latchford West councillor said: “I was pleased to have the opportunity to speak at the Labour Party Conference and to highlight the struggles that people in Warrington and beyond are facing.
“The motion put forward a number of policies to protect incomes and to lift children out of poverty. With a food bank opening in Warrington to help feed hungry families, this is a matter which should concern all of us."
Also attending are parliamentary spokesman Nick Bent, chairman of Warrington Young Labour Tom Jennings, and Clrs Dan Price (Great Sankey North) and Faisal Rashid (Whittle Hall).
Nick Bent said: “Labour is the only party in Warrington that is listening to people’s concerns about living standards, jobs and housing and we’re the only party offering a credible alternative to the failure and unfairness coming from Cameron, Osborne and Clegg.”
