NETWORK Warrington has been shortlisted for the bus industry’s version of the Oscars.

The company has been named in the ‘Buses in the Community’ category, which is a new category for the awards, for its work in the community supporting charities such as Warrington Disability Partnership and the charitable work of its staff.

Managing director David Squire said: “It is absolutely fantastic that we have made it through to the short list of the UK Bus Awards and in particular this new category at the awards recognises the excellent work that bus operators are doing across the UK in their local communities. “We are particularly proud of our achievements locally, whilst we are up against some tough competition in our category we are keeping our fingers crossed.”

Here's a thought, why would a bus company who have no problems with their drivers continually speeding through residential area be awarded for the 'buses in the community' award? Hardly thoughts for the community when they are hurtling up smith drive and down hallfields road is it?!?
