Bridge Foot road markings to be changed on Monday and Tuesday

Bridge Foot Bridge Foot

WORK will be carried out overnight on Monday to Tuesday to correct the road marking mistakes on Bridge Foot.

Red faced highways officials will have to repaint the road following a flood of complaints from motorists over the past two weeks.

The controversial changes have seen drivers stuck in hour long queues when attempting to travel to the south of town.

On Friday, council bosses announced the u-turn and have said today work will be carried out between 7pm and 6am today, Monday, and tomorrow, Tuesday.

A spokesman said: "Drivers are asked to look out for the temporary signage in the area and be extra vigilant to the changes in the layout, particularly on Tuesday as they will be only partly complete.

"The amendments will result in the three lanes at the Wilson Patten Street/Bridgefoot entry having the following designations: Lane 1 (short lane near the Lower Bridge Street) - A49N (A57) Lane 2 - Retail Park and A5061 (Knutsford Road) Lane 3 - A49(S) Wilderspool Causeway & A5060 Chester Road.

"The council apologises for any inconvenience caused."

Someone is telling lies as I've just passed (11.30pm Monday) and they are out there now BUT they are making changes to the markings outside job centre.

Looks to me like another case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing at the council yet again!!

The point is of course with the local council facing constant cut backs and services being cut back, who the hell decided once again that they had a good idea that was a waste of space and spent many thousands of the warringtons peoples money?

any driver who uses that bridge knows instantly it was never going to work.

cromwell avenue gullivers farce, Cromwell avenue jct at the LA bowl are another two disasters.
