Police need witnesses to mystery collapse
3:59pm Monday 1st October 2012 in News
Police are appealing for information after a 21-year-old man was left in a critical condition after being found collapsed in the town centre.
At 11.10pm on Friday police found him in Winwick Street at the junction of Crown Street near the bus station.
He was rushed to Warrington Hospital with a serious head injury before being transferred to Walton Hospital where he remains in a critical, but stable, condition.
Police say he had been out socialising with friends that evening and was last seen at a house in Rolleston Street.
He left the house and was seen walking along Midland Way.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious but police are appealing for witnesses.
DC Carl Davis said: "We are not treating the incident as suspicious and we strongly believe that his injuries are as the result of an accident.
“But we would like to speak to as many people as possible to try and establish the circumstances of the incident and the events leading up to it."
The man is of mixed race, around 5ft 10ins tall, with short dark hair. He wore a black tracksuit and white trainers.
Anyone with any information can call police on 101.
