THERE was no chance of Old Hall mum Wendy Ellis keeping her 40th quiet as she woke up to find her husband had painted a special birthday message across her front lawn.

Husband of 11 years Darryl sneaked out of bed at 1am to spend an hour covering the house and car with 40th messages before painting the lawn.

The 42-year-old IT security architect said: “Some women try to hide their age so I wasn’t sure what she would think but she said she was chuffed and said it made her feel really special.

“One of the neighbours said she wished her husband would do something like that so I was made up with the comments.”

The Warrington Wolves season ticket holders, who have a son called Sam, aged two, said the inspiration came from watching a game on Sky and seeing messages super-imposed on the pitch.
