Burglars steal sentimental jewellery from pensioner in Burtonwood

BURGLARS used a crow bar to steal sentimental jewellery from the home of an 85-year-old in Burtonwood.

The theft took place at the Jackson Avenue home of the 85-year-old between Friday and Sunday.

Police say the attackers took a crow bar from his shed in his back garden and used it to smash the glass in his back patio door.

When inside they searched his rooms and stole £1,000 cash in £20 denominations from his bedroom, as well as three distinctive items of jewellery; a gold wedding ring, gold engagement ring with a solitaire diamond and a gold oval locket on a chain.

DC Alex Reeves said: “This was a particularly despicable crime against an elderly male, the monetary value of the jewellery stolen isn't known yet but they are of high sentimental value.”

Anyone with information or who may have been offered the items should call the Warrington Burglary Team on 101.

Catch them, chop their hands off, throw them in jail, throw away the key! they won't be able to rob anyone else then.
