Council official appears in court over theft charge

A COUNCIL official appeared in court on Thursday accused of stealing over £23,300.

Trina Jones, aged 45, who was personal assistant to Denbighshire County Council’s head of finance, is alleged to have taken the money in small quantities between March 2010 and February this year.

Magistrates in Prestatyn adjourned the case against Jones, of Redshank Lane, Birchwood, for two weeks at the request of her solicitor Huw Roberts.

He told the court that Jones would definitely be admitting theft but checks needed to be carried out on the total sum allegedly taken.
