A 39-YEAR-OLD is preparing to tackle one of the world’s largest marathons for the second time to raise cash for disabled children’s charity Whizz-Kidz.

Paul Kelly, from St Helens, will take on the New York Marathon in support of the organisation which provides equipment and support for thousands of children across the UK.

“I have friends who are bringing up two disabled kids so it’s close to my heart,” said Paul. “Whizz-Kidz helped them and many others in the community.”

Back in 2010 Paul crossed the line in seven hours, and he has been training for more than a year with Warrington Harriers at their Victoria Park base ahead of a return to the Big Apple.

The dad-of-three has worked for electrical contractors DW Hargreaves, on Buttermarket Street, for more than 20 years, and the company is giving £400 towards his campaign. Donations can be made by visiting justgiving.com/kingkelly.
