28-day smokers' challenge

SMOKERS in the town are being urged to join a 28-day quitting challenge next month.

The ‘Stoptober’ campaign includes smokers receiving support and encouragement through a daily messaging service as experts estimatethe town has 34,100 smokers costing the area about £53.2m every year.

Clr Pat Wright , executive board member for health, wellbeing and adult services for the council, said: “We want to help as many people as possible in Warrington to become smokefree and there is a wide range of support available.

“Our stop smoking services are doing a great job and last year in Warrington 941 people successfully quit with their help.”
