COUNCIL leader Terry O’Neill and deputy Mike Hannon have written to the head of Greater Manchester Police to offer their sympathies for the Tuesday shootings.

PC Nicola Hughes and PC Fiona Bone were shot dead while answering a 999 call in Hattersley.

The letter said: “On behalf of all the residents, businesses and the council, I write to offer our deepest and sincere sympathy, thoughts and prayers at this time regarding the tragic murders of PC Nicola Hughes and PC Fiona Bone.”
