Votes needed in park campaign

Campaigners support Brickfields bid Campaigners support Brickfields bid

A CAMPAIGN has been launched for much needed funding to pay for a £30,000 park makeover.

Brickfields Park, off Orford Lane close to the town centre, has been shortlisted to go head to head with 36 others in a campaign run by Flora and community charity Groundwork.

The park with the most Facebook votes wins.

Clr Kate Hannon, executive board member for leisure community and culture, said: “The park is in desperate need of new facilities but we won’t win unless we get the votes so we need everyone to get behind us and vote to win the much needed cash.”

Clr Tony Higgins, Fairfield and Howley, is the ward councillor for the area.

He said the challenge is about a long-term commitment with plans for an open day in the pipeline as well as encouraging the community to take charge of it.
