TWO Wolves fans who had not seen each other for 49 years met by surprise days before the Challenge Cup victory.

Eddie Carey, aged 71, a former Warrington resident who now lives in Australia, travelled over for the final.

He was drinking in the Cheshire Cheese pub, on Knutsford Road, Latchford, when he ran into old friend Mike Rowan, from Orford.

Eddie said: “As I walked through the door I recognised him,” said Mike, aged 70, of Chiltern Road.

“We had a few beers and went down memory lane.”

The two, who both attended St Benedict’s School in Orford Lane, had not seen each other for nearly half a century. They watched the Wembley win together.

Eddie is returning to Australia tomorrow, but vowed to keep in touch.
