Winner name for Warrington Market competition
9:00am Friday 7th September 2012 in News
THE votes have been cast and the verdict is in.
Warrington Guardian readers have chosen Welly Envy as the store they want to see come to Warrington Market.
Hundreds have been voting for their favourite business idea to pick up a stall on the market, rent free for one year.
And the one-stop shop for festival revellers and outdoor enthusiasts came out on top in a close run vote.
Welly Envy is the brainchild of Dave Hughes, a 33-year-old from Stockton Heath, and will sell festival essentials such as wellies, ponchos and everything you could need to look cool and keep dry at any outdoor event.
Dave said: “It is such a fantastic opportunity to put an idea I have had for a while into practise. I unleashed a bit of a social media campaign on Facebook and Twitter.
“Now we have to have a think about how we are going to do it and get the stall up and running.
“I got 50 likes over the course of the last week on Facebook so we feel there’s obviously people interested. Everyone who I spoke to gets excited about the idea and helped to build the business.
“A massive thank you to everyone who has voted for us and Stockton Heath’s Coffee Au Clay who helped our campaign.”
In a close run vote Welly Envy pipped plans for a gluten-free food stall by Laura Rowan to the post.
Now Dave will be in discussions with Warrington Market manager Stephen Pickering on how best to turn his vision into reality.
Mr Pickering said: “We are encouraged by the enthusiasm shown in this entry. Dave has lots of exciting ideas and demonstrates an infectious passion for his product. We look forward to seeing the business develop and wish him all the best in turning it into a successful venture.”
