TRANSPORT police have released CCTV of a man they want to speak to after a suitcase was stolen.

The incident happened at about 10.35pm on Thursday, August 9, on the Wolverhampton to Glasgow Virgin Trains service.

PC Dan Armstrong said: “As the train pulled in to Warrington Bank Quay a man left the service carrying a suitcase belonging to another passenger.

“Investigations have shown the man waited for the train to leave the station before making his way from the platform and out to the taxi rank.

“We believe he used an X-registered Peugeot taxi to continue his journey and I would like to speak to the taxi driver to see if we can piece together the thief’s movements.”

PC Armstrong added: “I would also like to speak to the man in the CCTV image as I believe he has key information in relation to the theft.”

If you have any information about the incident, or recognise the man pictured, call 0800 40 50 40 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111. In all calls quote log 719 of August 9.

Theiving ratbag! But the owner must bear some of the responsibility for not watching his/her luggage at all times. There have been numerous warnings for passengers to take great care of their luggage and not to leave it unattended at any time.

Cleopatra, that's a 4 hour train journey and you may not be sat next to your cases as they are probably in a storage rack. You can't watch your property at all times, you have to have a reasonable amount of trust in the human race and not expect to be shafted when you let your guard down. Low life scum.

I keep an eye on my luggage all the time. If I have to put it in a storage rack I try to take a seat nearby so I can see if anyone touches it. If I have to sit away from it I make sure that I am there at every station the train stops at to ensure that nobody takes my luggage - accidently or otherwise.
That's just the problem. It's when you let your guard down that you do get shafted. Be aware at all times!

I'm sure it wouldn't take long for WBC to check there system for an x reg peogeot taxi . The at least the police could track the driver down ! That could have been done on the day .. If it's a Warrington taxi that is, which I'm pretty sure it would be as our local cabs are very territorial around the station rank .

Cleo at it again. Make your mind up girl. One minute people are heartless for not showing compassion for the victim. The next its their own fault.
Hypocrite or multi personality disorder. Please do tell?
I believe you lie so much you believe its true. When I'm on a train and get up to "check my luggage at each station", someone gets on at the other door and takes my seat. Perhaps your really God and omnipresent. It seems you are on every commendable subject.
I think I love you, you crazy gal! Xx
