The mother of Shafilea Ahmed is to appeal her conviction

THE mother of Shafilea Ahmed will appeal the conviction for the murder of her daughter.

Farzana Ahmed was found guilty of the murder of the Great Sankey school girl by a jury at Chester Crown Court last month.

The 49-year-old, of Liverpool Road, and husband Iftikhar were jailed for 25 years for the killing.

Shafilea went missing in 2003 and her body was found in the River Kent in Cumbria in 2004.
