A MATURE Warrington Collegiate student is looking to get her name up in lights after gaining a place at the performing arts school, LIPA, in Liverpool.

Jules Horsfield, aged 37, studied musical theatre for two years at the collegiate and cannot wait to start the BA degree in musical theatre in September.

She said: “I was working as a cabaret club singer but felt I had a lot more to give so I decided to go back to college. The college has been an absolutely amazing experience and this opportunity means a lot to me.”

Jules, from Newton-le-Willows achieved a triple distinction in the extended diploma in performing arts at Warrington Collegiate. She was also awarded The Hilary Tucker Award for outstanding achievement at the college’s further education awards ceremony, which celebrates student’s outstanding success.

Proud tutor James Baker said: “As her director I can say that she is a top performer who really develops the character and brings energy and enthusiasm to rehearsals and performances. I’ve never had an adult learner with so much drive and determination to succeed and the ability and talent to do so. I look forward to seeing her name up in lights.”

Jules is mother of two and after seeing her mum on her way to stardom, daughter Shelby enrolled at Warrington Collegiate to study performing arts with dance, and is proving that talent clearly runs in the family.

Congratulations and good luck for the future. An excellent role model for aspiring performers who sometimes want the fame without all the hard work and determination it takes!
