Third time unlucky for Wolves fan

IT was third time unlucky for one Warrington Wolves fan at the Challenge Cup Final at Wembley last Saturday.

Phil Symes, from Penketh, was there for the last two cup wins but having bought a ticket for Wembley had to miss out as he was called up to join a ship in the Middle East where he is in the Royal Fleet Auxilary.

The 62-year-old former manager at Broomfields Recreation Centre and Birchwood Tennis Centre, said: “I watched the build up, heard Abide with Me and the National anthem – then we lost the TV signal – only to get it back briefly at 7pm.

“Never mind I’m getting a recording burned on to disc and sent out to me ‘east of Suez’.”
