POLICE officers were on a slightly different beat when they took on the Birchwood 10km to raise money in memory of Ciaran Geddes.

Six officers from Cheshire Police completed the run for Ciaran’s Cause, a charity set up in memory of the seven-year-old from Locking Stumps who died after suffering a cardiac arrest in April.

Runner Sgt Thomas Jones, aged 31, works at Risley Police station.

He said: “Officers were on duty the day Ciaran passed away and felt moved to help raise money for such a worthy cause.”

He was joined by Sgt Simon Lowe, PC David Flanagan, PC Stephen Crawford, CSO Phil Hilton and Special Lucy Rushton They have raised £400 so far with money going towards funding defibrillators in Warrington schools.
