Hair-raising experience is worth it for charity

IT could only be a hairdresser’s worst nightmare.

When Liam Prescott decided to grow his short hair long to raise money for St Rocco’s Hospice it was not the fundraising idea his hairdresser fiancee Michelle Allen had in mind.

He said: “She said ‘don’t do that, you will look silly’. Michelle was alright for the first four months but then it started to grow. She said I looked like someone from the streets.”

Liam, from Golborne, decided to raise money for the hospice after Michelle’s granddad spent time there while also raising money for Pulmonary Hypertension Association as his grandparents have the condition.

And a year ago he hit on the idea of growing his locks long to get them shaved off.

Liam said: “I thought it would be quite easy but it turned out to be the hardest thing to do.”

So far he has raised around £1,500 for the two charities and he even got some of the patients at St Rocco’s to help him shave off his hair.
