TORCH bearer Aden Walker took a trip to Warrington Hospital’s children’s ward last week to put a smile on patients’ faces.

The Great Sankey swimming star, who has collected 246 medals and 41 trophies in special Olympic swimming, carried the torch on the streets of Acrefair, near Wrexham, during the relay.

The 42-year-old has since fundraised for a number of charities including Runcorn Autistic Children and Families United, who work with disabled children and their families, by collecting donations for pictures with him and the torch.

Aden, who won last year’s Halton’s Got Talent, said he hopes his appearances will encourage youngsters to get into sports.
