Granddad gets on his bike to help
A GRANDDAD has been doing his bit for an ICU unit appeal after his daughter Lynn, who works at Warrington Hospital, persuaded him to help.
The team are hoping to raise £25,000 for an oscillator, which helps patients with breathing problems, before this winter and kickstarted the campaign with a bucket collection before a Warrington Wolves game last month.
But rather than collecting around the Halliwell Jones Stadium , Saints fan Thomas Cefn Arrowsmith decided to cycle the Trans Pennine trail instead.
The 72-year-old, who celebrates his 73rd birthday next month and had a new hip last year, cycled 235 miles from Southport to Hornsea after the group took a wrong turn during the 215 mile ride over four days.
The granddad of three from Newton said: “I have never done anything like that before and it has been a big achievement for me.
“My daughter Lynn works very hard at the hospital and she was made up we have raised £300 so far.”
