Warrington pubs complete torch relay for charity

STAFF from three pubs in the town took to the streets to complete their own mini Olympic torch relay on the day the games started.

Starting and finishing at the Springbrook on Stockport Road, Grappenhall, the Tour de Warrington also took in the Trigger Pond on Lindley Green Avenue and the Peacock at Birchwood Shopping Centre.

A total of 17 other members of staff fromt he three pubs formed the 'Warrington Wowzers'.

Representing Marston's Inns and Taverns, the Wowzers are hoping to raise around £2,300 in total for four charities – St Rocco's Hospice and Zoe's Place which provide care for terminally ill children, Brainwave which supports children with special needs and Mencap.
