A FAMILY of drummers joined almost 800 others to break a world record and raise thousands for charity.

Andrew Raymond and sons Jacob and Mike, from Whittle Hall, were among 798 drummers who broke the world record for the largest number to play at the same time in Manchester.

Held at Event City, it has already raised around £75,000 for the MS Society.

Andrew, aged 46, said the event was great fun.

“It was tremendous to be there. We had to play five pieces at the same time. It was fun getting three drums into the car.”

Mike, aged 16, who attends St Gregory’s High School in Great Sankey, is aiming to become a professional drummer and plays in a band. He also helps teach budding musicians.

Brother Jacob, aged 11, who left St Vincent’s Primary School in Penketh and will start at St Gregory’s in September, is also a keen drummer.
