New respite centre in Padgate opens

A NEW respite home offering overnight care for young people aged three to 17 with physical disabilities and complex health needs has opened its doors.

Westland Drive, in Padgate, offers accommodation for two youngsters at a time with a variety of sensory equipment, a large garden and spacious rooms and corridors, purpose built for those who may use a wheelchair.

Clr Colin Froggatt (LAB - Poulton South), executive board member for children and young people`s services, was among the parents invited to the launch last Thursday.

He said“This fantastic centre provides much-needed respite for young people.

“The state-of-the-art facilities and dedicated staff allow families to spend time away from home in a relaxed environment without any worries.”
