SUPERSTAR singer David Hunter has spoken to the Warrington Guardian about the 'overwhelming' support which has seen him reach the semi-final of the ITV show.
The 27-year-old, who is one of four left in the competition to find a leading man for the forthcoming arena tour of Jesus Christ Superstar , said: "I can't believe I'm through to the semi-finals.
"The talent in this competition is incredible and I feel so lucky to be in the final four.
“I'll need my home town supporters more than ever.
"I'm sure their phone bills are suffering by now, but I plan to repay everyone of them with a big old party when I get home!"
Last week the former Bridgewater High School pupil, who has been praised for his acting skills as well as his singing voice in the competition, was in the bottom two but was saved by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Since then he has had a smooth run in the competition, gaining enough public votes to see him safely through each round.
The final takes place tomorrow night, Wednesday, and David needs your votes tonight to help him get there.
“I'm just overwhelmed by the response I've had and to make it to the final would be unreal," he said.
“I'm so close now and all I need is that last push to get there.
“I hope everyone will pick up the phone tonight. Thank you to every last one of you who is voting and spreading the word.
“You've made me very proud to say I'm a Warrington lad through and through! Thank you.”
Tune in to ITV at 9pm when the voting lines open.
